Australian Decimal Stamps 1982 Animals, Scarce Perf, Set 6, MNH
Ref # PV13a: 1982 Australian Animals Definitive Set 6; 3c Corroboree Frog, 15c Snake-necked Tortoise, 27c Tree Frog, 40c Knob-tailed Gecko, 65c Whip Snake and 75c Water Dragon (6 stamps) with perforation variety 14 all MNH. Note: the 90c Freshwater Crocodile was not reprinted in a different perforation size thus it is not included in this set
The process of creating perforations in stamps involves cutting rows and columns of small holes to make the stamps easier to separate without tearing. However, due to size of the stamps, the paper used, the printing presses and the printing process used, some stamps are difficult to separate and some break away from their adjoining neighbours with only minimal handling. Hence, the perforations (the number of holes within a 2cm span) may be changed during a print run. This creates what is commonly called a ‘perforation variety’ and it is a field where collectors operate. Different size perforations are measured using a perforation gauge
No folds, creases, rust spots, short perfs or other defects
Note: scan is a Stock Image, we have multiples of this Lot
Mounting Sheet used in the scan is not included
